PORT OF ROTTERDAM
The Port of Rotterdam (PoR) manages the harbour area and the industrial zone of the port of Rotterdam. The PoR is responsible for both the strategic development and the operational management of the area and the transportation in the area. There are more than 1150 employees working in the organisation.
Since 1998 ATLIS is an important partner of the Port of Rotterdam for the development and realisation of their main (geo)graphical and administrative information system. ATLIS is an important partner of the Port of Rotterdam for the development and realisation of their main (geo)graphical and administrative information system.
Since 1999 the information system has a key role in:
a) administrating geographical information and
b) integrating several Oracle administrative systems by using object related spatial information.
With the ENCRIBS project ATLIS makes it possible to import S-57 data from ENC-cells in an Oracle Spatial database (SIS) and to produce new ENC-cells based on the actual spatial and administrative data present in the Oracle Spatial database. The Port of Rotterdam uses this interface to store and maintain centralised nautical, bathymetric and topographic S-57 data. This S57-data is used to produce ENCs for internal, and in the future external, use. Also the data will be made available company-wide.
